ServicesStamped Concrete
Stamped Concrete in Laguna Niguel
We pour and stamp new concrete for patios, walkways, driveways and pool surrounds. On older homes we dig out the old slab, check what's under it and fix the base before any pattern goes down. That way the finish looks good and stays put.

What Stamped Concrete Is and When It Makes Sense
Stamped concrete is a regular pour with color added and a pattern pressed into the surface while it's still soft. Flagstone, slate, cobble, brick and wood plank are the common looks. You get the feel of stone or pavers in one solid slab, without loose joints for weeds and ants to work into.
It makes sense when the old concrete at your home is cracked, sunken or patched past saving and you want something better looking than plain gray. Many houses here are thirty to fifty years old. Their original slabs often sit on thin base, have no rebar and slope the wrong way. A new stamped pour is the chance to fix all of that at once.
We don't stamp over old concrete. We remove it, set a new base and pour fresh. That's the part you never see, and it's the part that decides how the job holds up.

What Your Stamped Concrete Job Includes
- 01
Tear-out and haul-away
We break up and remove the old slab, pavers or brick. The debris leaves the property with us.
- 02
Base and drainage check
Once the old concrete is out, we look at the soil, old pipes and roots underneath. On older homes we often find buried drain lines, past patch jobs or soft fill. We show you what we found and talk through it before we go on.
- 03
Forms, rebar and slope
We set forms, lay rebar and grade the surface so water runs away from your home. Older patios often pitch toward the house, and we correct that.
- 04
Color and pattern
You pick a base color, a release color for the accent and a stamp pattern. We bring samples so you can see them against your house and landscaping.
- 05
Control joints and sealer
We cut joints where the slab is most likely to crack so any movement follows a line you chose. Then we seal the surface to bring out the color and protect it.

Cracks with height difference
When one side of a crack sits higher than the other, the base underneath has moved. Patching the top won't stop it.
A patio that holds water
Puddles after watering or rain mean the slope is off. Water near the foundation is worth fixing.
Patch on top of patch
Older homes often show years of fixes in different colors and textures. At some point it's cleaner to start over.
Pavers that keep shifting
Loose pavers, sunken spots and weeds in the joints are a steady chore. A stamped slab gives a similar look in one piece.
Plain gray that doesn't fit the house
Sometimes nothing is wrong except the look. If you're redoing the backyard or entry anyway, stamping adds a lot for the space.
How a Stamped Concrete Job Runs
- 1
Walk the site with you
We come out, measure and look at the old concrete, the drainage and access. We ask what you want the space to do and how it should look.
- 2
Written estimate
You get a line-item estimate that spells out tear-out, base work, concrete, color, pattern and sealer. If we think plain or broom-finish concrete fits a spot better, we say so.
- 3
Demo and prep
We remove the old surface, fix the base and set forms and rebar. If we find something unexpected underneath, we stop and show you before doing extra work.
- 4
Pour and stamp
Pour day moves fast. We place the concrete, add color, then press the pattern while the timing is right. We cover nearby walls and plants to keep them clean.
- 5
Cure, seal and clean up
We wash off the release, cut joints and seal once the slab is ready. You can usually walk on it in a day or two and drive on a driveway after about a week.
What Moves the Price of Stamped Concrete
Stamped concrete costs more than a plain pour because of the color, the stamping labor and the sealer. On older homes, the biggest swing usually comes from what's under the old slab. We price after we've seen the site, and the estimate shows each part on its own line.
- Size and shape
- Square footage matters most. Curves, steps and tight corners take more forming and hand stamping.
- Tear-out and base
- Thick old slabs, buried footings or soft soil add demo and prep time. Some older yards need more base brought in.
- Pattern and color
- A single color with a simple pattern costs less than two-tone work with border bands or hand-detailed edges.
- Access
- If a truck can't reach the pour, we pump or wheel the concrete in. Narrow side yards and backyards with no gate access add labor.
Stamped Concrete Questions
Is stamped concrete slippery?
It can be smoother than broom finish, especially once sealed. Around pools and on walkways we mix a grit additive into the sealer to add traction. We also suggest patterns with more texture for wet areas.
Can you stamp over my existing concrete?
We don't. Stamping needs fresh concrete, and an overlay on a tired old slab carries its cracks right through. We remove the old surface and pour new so the base is right.
How often does it need resealing?
Most stamped surfaces here need a fresh coat of sealer every two to three years. Strong sun fades color faster on unsealed concrete. Resealing is simple and keeps the color looking even.
Will it crack?
All concrete can crack. We reduce it with proper base, rebar and control joints placed so any movement follows a planned line. Good prep at the start matters more than anything done later.
Does it work for driveways too?
Yes. We pour driveways thicker and with more reinforcement, then stamp the same way. Many people stamp a border band and leave the center plain to balance cost and look. See our Driveways page for more on that work.
How long does the job take?
A typical patio runs a few days from tear-out to sealing, plus cure time before heavy use. Weather and what we find under the old slab can change that, and we'll keep you posted.
